A New Way To Think | Dale Weerts

It is amazing how you can read the Bible and continually see new things.  Today while reading My Utmost For His Highest by Oswald Chambers I was confronted with a new way to think.  Here is what he said in his October 3rd devotional.

“Paul said, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me‘ (Philippians 4:13) and what he was referring to were mostly humiliating things.”

Humiliating things?  This presents a new way to think.  Usually, when people talk about or quote this verse they are talking about doing something difficult but positive.  Here he is saying that regardless of the circumstances I can do all things because Jesus gives me the strength I will need.  He will give me the strength to get through the dark times.  He will give me strength when others are harassing me.  He will give me the strength to go to work and be a positive influence in a negative environment.  He will give me the strength to endure all things.  Wow!

This is the God I believe in.  He gives me strength when I have none of my own.  He gives me strength when I am weak.  “My grace is all you need.  My power works best in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9a).  Because of God’s grace, I have His power in my weakness.

God, give me the faith I need each day to trust you.  When I am challenged with each day’s circumstances, remind me to lean into you.  It is you I want to know more and more each and every day.  Give me the strength I need to love you and love others.  In Jesus name, Amen!

I would love to hear your stories of God strengthening you in life’s circumstances.  Please share if you have time.  Thanks
