Life Is Challenging | Overcoming | Dale Weerts

Let me say from the get-go that God’s Word and a relationship with Him is more precious to me than anything.  It is the filter through which I try to live each and every day of my life.  Some days I do well and other days I am disappointed my choices/actions.  I am also blessed to have a wife who values a relationship with God and His Word.  I am blessed to be part of a church that teaches the truth from God’s Word.  I can’t say that living as a Christian in this world is easy because it is NOT.  I am not afraid to let people know that I am a believer.  As a result, there are many days that people make fun of me or make wisecracks about God to my face.  God gives me a great deal of patience with these people.  The world has an agenda for me that is opposite of the life God desires, but I am not of the world and because of it, the world hates me.  It’s mission:  to steal, kill and destroy.

“I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world.  My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one.”   John 17:14-15
I am definitely in need of God’s protection from the evil one.  There are times my feelings deceive me and I react to others in a way unworthy of my calling to be a light in the world.  When that happens, I am disappointed in myself and I ask God to forgive and strengthen me.  It seems that every day brings new challenges that test me.  Sometimes I am so tired of it and so I go to God’s Word to remind me of the hope that I have through faith in Jesus Christ.
“Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.”  Psalm 25:5
“You are my refuge and my shield; I have put my hope in your word.”  Psalm 119:114
“Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.”  Hebrews 10:23
I confess, there are days I am frustrated with life with its twists and turns, but I know my God (not the God of a denomination, but the God of the Bible) is there right beside me…BECAUSE HE SAID SO AND I BELIEVE WHAT HE SAYS!
“And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”  Matthew 28:20b
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”  Isaiah 41:10
“‘They will fight against you but will not overcome you, for I am with you and will rescue you,’ declares the Lord.”  Jeremiah 1:19
May my life be a sharp contrast to the world.  I know my God will give me the strength to overcome.
“For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.  Who is it that overcomes the world?
Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.”  1 John 5:4-5
